This was our last recipe using the fryer before we retired it back on top of the cabinets, probably not to be used again for another couple years. And this sandwich was to die for.
First you want to make all the stuff you need for the sandwich on the side. I took one container of broccoli slaw and mixed it with 6TBsp sriracha and 1 TBsp apple cider vinegar. Set aside.
Next slice up some tomatoes and set aside. Also peel and slice one apple.
For the tofu part thinly slice some extra firm tofu (to about 1/2 inch thin or less).
Make your beer batter: mix 1.5cups flour with 2 TBsp paprika, 2 TBsp tumeric, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp lemon pepper. Then mix in one bottle beer to this.
Dip the tofu in it and fry at 350 until floating.
I had vegan sub rolls that I spread some vegan chipotle mayo on the bottom, then a layer of sliced tomatoes. Next goes the tofu. Then the apple slices on top of that and next the slaw. Try to close that roll (might be too packed full), it is incredible.
